Eurotech Brands Hatch BTCC Race Report1 Comment9 April 2018 | Ravenol Marketing
RAVENOL’s partner WIX Racing with Eurotech team had a great start to the British Touring Car Championship with a win for Jack Goff in the opening race at Brands Hatch. On Sunday morning, Jack led from the start in Race 1 and got an early reprieve when 2nd placed Sam Tordoff was forced out the way by the Team BMW drivers Colin Turkington and Andrew Jordon, later colliding with Eurotech’s other driver Matt Simpson. The early carnage led to the safety car being deployed, after which Jack came under constant pressure from the two BMW, but he successfully held them off. Colin Turkington made one last attempt to overtake on lap 14 as they exited the clearways but didn’t have the traction to get past, allowing Jack to go on to take the win. Behind him, Eurotech’s third driver Brett Smith came home in 10th. Matt Simpson was unfortunately forced to retire following his collision with Sam Tordoff. For Race 2, the uncertain weather threw a spanner into the works. The majority of the front runners chose to go onto wets, including the RAVENOL partnered Eurotech drivers. Jack didn’t get the best of starts, but following a safety car period to clear up Team Parker Racing’s Stephen Jelley, he managed to work his way back up to second. However by the middle of the race the circuit had dried up and the drivers at the back on slicks were able to work their way through the field. Jack managed to retake the lead but had Power Maxed’s Senna Procter and Laser Tools Racing’s Aiden Moffat on slicks, right behind him. Both drivers managed to get past and Jack began to slip down the field as the wet tyres lost their edge in the drying conditions. Senna Procter went on to take the win, and Jack finished in 10th. However credit of the day goes to Matt Simpson who started at the very back and worked his way through the field up to 7th. In Race 3, Duo Motorsport’s Rob Austin took an early lead and led the race through another safety car. After the restart, Speedworks Motorsport’s Tom Ingram managed to take the lead and went on to win the race. Matt Simpson and Jack Goff finished and 7th and 8th respectively, with Jack now second in the drivers’ standings with 37 points, behind Tom Ingram with 40. As well as a fantastic start for Jack Goff, RAVENOL's partner Eurotech went on to take home a trophy for the Independent Teams Win.
The next race will be held at Donington Park on the 28-29th April. As with Brands Hatch, there will be live coverage on ITV4 on Sunday 29th April from 10:45 to 18:20. Pictures courtesy of Eurotech |
