Kirsty Hockly receives her award

RAVENOL's new team member Kirsty Hockly was awarded Driver of the Year 2018 award last weekend for the Manchester and Buxton Kart Club. This was her first year competing in this championship, after also being placed 4th in the Cheshire Kart Racing Club in 2018 in the Senior Rotax class.

Kirsty has a family background in motorsport (she is the niece of Harry Hockly from Hockly Motorsport) and got into karting 4 years ago at a local level for 2 years and has since progressed into MSA racing at both a club and national level. This year Kirsty is planning to progress into a higher level national championship and to continue racing in the Manchester and Buxton Kart Club.

"After having a year of ups and downs, with some amazing races at the start of the year both my dad and me struggled with both my driving and mechanicing," Kirsty told us. "Throughout the year all the hard work payed off with our dedication to improving as much as we could together. After all the practice and hard work payed off seeing the improvement from the start of the year to the closing rounds of the championship. The award was a complete shock to me, I was not expecting anything after only placing 11th in the championship, but this proves my dedication to my improvements truly payed off. I look forward to what 2019 has to bring!"

Brian Chase Managing Director of Ravenol said, "Kirsty is really proving that she is a focused and determined young lady and we are very proud to have her as part of the Ravenol Team here in Welshpool."
