RAVENOL partners OPEL Motorsport

Since June 2015, RAVENOL has been the exclusive technology premium partner of Opel Motorsport for lubricants. This partnership comprises of national and international rallying (Opel Adam) as well as touring-car racing where Opel is involved with the Opel Astra in both the TCR International Series and the ADAC TCR Germany. 

We are delighted that as part of this program, RAVENOL will again be supporting Manchester lad Chris Ingram in his attempt on the FIA European Rally Championship 2017. Opel is aiming for a hat-trick in the Junior European Championship with three factory ADAM R2’s. Chris Ingram, Jari Huttunen and Tamara Molinaro compete with Europe’s top talents. Six prestigious races throughout Europe are waiting for Opel factory drivers.

The Opel ADAM R2 Championship cars are equipped with a normally aspirated 1.6-litre 16V four-cylinder engine (code number A16XER) designed and developed in cooperation with race-engine manufacturer Spies. The ADAM R2 features a variable camshaft adjustment and produces – at 7,750 rpm – a maximum torque of about 190 Nm. The compact rally cars are run with the specially designed motor-racing engine oil RAVENOL RSS 10W-60 which, due to its high viscosity index, excellent shear stability and a highly efficient additivation, this fully synthetic high-alloy oil based on esters and poly-alpha olefins is particularly well suited for extreme driving conditions. Compared to its production sister, the modified R2 version of the Opel Adam features lighter pistons, special camshafts and valve springs.

The power transfer is executed via a sequential Sadev five-speed gearbox STC75-14 with limited slip differential which makes good use of RAVENOL Racing Gear Oil. RAVENOL SSF is used for the electro-hydraulic steering of the Opel ADAM R2 which is an EHPS Type steering supplied by the manufacturer TRW. At the same time, the radiator coolant RAVENOL OTC – Protect C12+ Concentrate makes sure that the engine keeps its cool in every situation. The technical specifications and the lightweight body with integrated safety structure turn the OPEL ADAM R2 into a solid, fast rally car that truly has got what it takes to win championships.
