Restart Racing Score Points in First Round of the 2024 BTCC Championship

A wet end to April as Restart Racing tackled the British weather at Donington Park for the first rounds of the 2024 BTCC championship. Slippery conditions and a lengthy safety car stoppage did not stop Chris Smiley as he went on to score the team's first point in its debut race. In race two, Smiley improved his position, moving up to 14th by the end of the race. Overall, this was a great start from the team.

Here is what Ravenol UK’s MD said: “Ravenol UK’s technical partner Restart Racing have shown the potential to have significant pace and fast lap times. Despite tricky and wet conditions the team managed to pick up points. Ravenol UK are rooting for the team at the next round of the BTCC at Brands Hatch”.

A word from Restart Racing’s MD, Peter Jones: “I'm immensely proud of our team's performance at the BTCC season opener at Donington Park. Despite facing challenging weather conditions and unforeseen setbacks, our team demonstrated resilience, skill, and determination throughout the weekend. Each challenge presented an opportunity for growth and learning, and I couldn't be more proud of how our team handled the adversity”.

As we reflect on our debut weekend, we carry valuable points and insights gained from the track to our next challenge at Brands Hatch. With a solid foundation established at Donington Park, we're eager to build on our momentum and continue pushing forward in the UK's premier motorsport series.”

Here’s what the team’s driver Chris Smiley said: “Our first race went well in the rain, and we made progress. In the second race, we made further progress in dry conditions, showing strong pace in the last laps. Unfortunately, we needed to retire in race 3 due to debris damaging the radiator. It was a frustrating end, but we're eager to improve for Brands Hatch in two weeks. See you there!"
