5W-30 is currently the most common manufacturer recommended viscosity of engine oil. So why do RAVENOL make so many different 5W-30's (15 normally in stock and more to come)? Well, the specialist racing products aside, we do so many different types of engine oils for road cars because there are so many different makes and models of cars on the roads today. The side panels from a Volkswagen Polo wouldn’t fit onto a Fiat Punto even though they’re both hatchbacks, right? So of course the engines are different too and will have different specifications when it comes to oils, even if they both say “5W-30” in the handbook.
